Canal Place River Park Project Can Begin After MOU

With a memorandum of understanding ceremony held Tuesday afternoon at Cumberland’s City Hall- the hope now is that the Canal Place River Park project can now begin in earnest. With COVID Cases Spiking, Hogan Schedules Wednesday Update

As COVID-19 metrics continue to increase across the nation, Gov. Larry Hogan has announced he will hold a COVID-19 update at 2 p.m. on Wednesday. While some COVID-19 metrics are increasing steadily, others are more drastic. The state health department reported 856 new cases of COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, and the numbers have been increasing by 100 or more every day since July 13. The number of Marylanders hospitalized is up to 611, the highest since May 17. Heavy Rain, Flash Flooding Expected Wednesday

The remnants of Tropical Storm Fred are expected to drench the region. The National Weather Service on Tuesday issued a flash flood watch from 6 a.m.-6 p.m. Wednesday.  In its advisory, the weather service said moderate to heavy showers with scattered strong thunderstorms were possible.  "Tropical moisture will lead to potential precipitation rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour. Localized storm total rain amounts in excess of 3 inches are possible,” according to the weather statement.”
