National Night Out will be held this evening, with local events scheduled in South Cumberland, at Bel Air Elementary School, and at the Garrett County Fair in McHenry from 5 until 8 PM. Allegany County BOE Meets Today
We should have a better idea as to how Allegany County Public Schools will deal with COVID-19 issues when schools reopen after a meeting this afternoon at 3:00 at the central offices. Maryland COVID Cases Rise
The Maryland Department of Health has reported that the total hospitalizations in the state stands at 281, the highest level in two months. The seven-day positivity rate is at 3.23%, the highest in nearly three months. Ater three days of gains above 500, the number of new cases reported as of this morning is 447. No additional deaths were reported. Additionally, nearly 3000 people who had been vaccinated had tested positive for COVID-19. MDH Updates Staff Vaccination Survey
The Maryland Department of Health (MDH) today announced an update on the top 10 and bottom 10 nursing home facilities in the state ranked by percentage of staff with at least one dose of a vaccine against COVID-19 and highly contagious variants. Opioids Taking Toll on People & EMS System
Nearly 2,500 Marylanders lost their lives in opioid-related deaths last year, according to a new state report, and that represents the largest annual total on record.
