Allegany County Positivity Rate Soars; Death Total at 105

Route 36 Shut Down in Mount Savage Due to Accident

Allegany County 911 has dispatched police, fire and EMS to Route 36 in Mount Savage for a traffic accident. The road has been shut down at that location due to the mishap.

Route 36 Mishap Injures One

The Joint Communications Center of Allegany County dispatched police, fire and EMS to Maryland Route 36 in Midland this morning for a traffic accident. One person was transported to UPMC Western Maryland.  The road was closed for about 45 minutes. Maryland State Police and Allegany County Sheriff's Deputies are investigating the cause.

Police Seek Information on Vehicle Tampering

The Cumberland Police are seeking information related to a tampering with a motor vehicle complaint in the 200 block of Wallace Street on December 7, 2020 at 11:00 PM.  Someone unknown entered the vehicle and fled the area when confronted by the owner. Anyone with information related to this case is asked to contact the Cumberland City Police Department.  Also, the Cumberland City Police would like to remind city residents to remove valuables from vehicles and keep them locked when not in use. 

California Man Arrested After Suspicious Vehicle Complaint in Cumberland

On Tuesday, December 8, 2020, the Cumberland City Police responded to the area of Elder Street for a suspicious vehicle complaint.  Officers located the vehicle on Humbird Street and contacted the operator Jeffery Young, age 36 of San Bernardino, California. While investigating the suspicious complaint, officers located CDS paraphernalia and also suspected Young of operating the vehicle while under the influence.  Subsequently, Young was arrested and charged on a Criminal Citation for possession of CDS paraphernalia and DUI related traffic charges.  He was then released pending trial in District Court.

CEDC Director Discusses Long Struggle to Bring About Rolling Mill Groundbreaking

That announcement by Matt Miller, Executive Director of the Cumberland Economic Development Corporation yesterday, bringing the planned Rolling Mill project to the point where work will begin to be done. ACPS Virtual Through End of Year

Allegany County Public Schools will remain on a virtual platform through the end of the year, and into January. The Board of Educatoin voted to keep students on remote learning and will rreassess the sitation at its next meeting on January 12.
