Gas Prices Inching Upward in Cumberland
Maryland saw a decrease in prices at the pump this week as demand for gas decreased. As demand remains low, American drivers should expect pump prices to continue declining this fall. Naval Academy Director of Athletics Chet Gladchuk and Army Director of Athletics Mike Buddie announced today that the 121st playing of the Army-Navy Game presented by USAA will be played at West Point on Saturday, Dec. 12. Trunk-or-Treat Event Draws Criticism
A large-scale trunk or treat Halloween event was held in the White Oaks Plaza in South Cumberland Thursday evening, but reports are that many people attending were not following CDC COVID guidelines. Callers to WCBC's "Dave Norman Show" expressed concern. Cumberland Mayor Ray Morriss said the event was not city sponsored and he advised any groups or organizations holding such activities to follow the protocols.
Two cases of COVID-19 reported this week in Allegany County Public Schools
For the week of October 19 – 23, 2020, ACPS reports two individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19 who were within an Allegany County Public School. These two individuals are currently out of the school buildings and will continue to isolate. In both cases, ACPS worked with the Allegany County Health Department to determine close contacts of these positive cases. Those contacts have been notified and will complete a 14-day quarantine. Parents who have children attending these schools were informed through the ACPS Blackboard Notification System.
Maryland Department of Health urging Marylanders to get their flu shots
The Maryland Department of Health (MDH) today released new digital and social media to support #FightFlu Fridays, an extension of its “Fight the Flu” campaign.
