Governor Announces Lower Individual Health Insurance Premiums

Governor Larry Hogan today announced that Maryland Insurance Commissioner Kathleen A. Birrane has approved an average 11.9% premium rate decrease for individual health insurance plans with an effective date of January 1, 2021. This means that for the third consecutive year, all individual insurance rates in Maryland under the Affordable Care Act (ACA) will see significant decreases. Ridgeley woman charged with theft by Cumberland Police

On 09/14/2020 the Cumberland City Police Department served an arrest warrant on Kendra Catherine Brill. On 04/15/2020 the Cumberland City Police responded to George Street for a theft complaint. The officer learned the victim had electronics stolen from their vehicle. The victim was able to use tracking software on the electronics and learned they were in a residence in Ridgeley, WV. With the assistance of the Mineral County Sheriff’s Office, Ms. Brill was developed as a suspect and subsequently charged. Kanye fails in bid to appear on WV general election ballot

  Rap star Kanye West on Monday lost his court challenge to get on the general election ballot in West Virginia. Secretary of State Mac Warner previously determined West didn’t have enough valid signatures to get on the ballot as an independent candidate for president. In Monday's ruling, a US district judge agreed with that determination, and rejected West’s argument that Gov. Jim Justice’s ‘Stay at Home’ order hurt his chances to gather signatures.

Police Make Arrest on Bench Warrant

On September 13th, 2020, The Cumberland City Police arrested Jasmond Jaquan Metheny, age 30, of Cumberland MD. Metheny was arrested on three outstanding Bench Warrants issued by the District Court of Maryland for failing to appear in court on numerous charges including CDS possession with intent to distribute, CDS possession, and trespassing. Metheny was taken before the District Court Commissioner for his Initial Appearance where he was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center, held without bond. “Schoology” administrators to discuss online glitches with WCBC’s Dave Norman

With many parents experiencing glitches and other issues with online virtual learning during the first week of school in Allegany County, WCBC’s “Dave Norman Show” will have the systems chief technical officer as well as the director of communications to provide an update and answer questions about the new “schoology” program.
