On Thursday, March 21, 2024, the Cumberland Police Department served an Allegany County Circuit Court bench warrant on William Stewart Sr. The warrant was issued as the result of Stewart violating probation. He was originally charged with Malicious Destruction of Property less than $1,000. Older West Virginians Should Update Vaccine
The West Virginia Department of Health is informing all West Virginians 65 and older that they are eligible to receive the updated COVID-19 vaccine per recommendation from the Centers for Disease Control. The state’s Pan Respiratory Dashboard shows only 36% of state residents over 61 are up to date on their COVID vaccine. Over 100 people died in West Virginia from COVID in the last year, with an average age of 73. The updated vaccine targets original and new variants of the virus.
Garrett Adventure Sports Center For Sale
Garrett County is accepting bids for the sale of the Adventure Sports Center, Inc. property. Adventure Sports Center operated a man-made Olympic standard white water rafting and canoe/kayak slalom center adjacent to Deep Creek Lake. It opened in May 2007 and was the third pump-powered artificial whitewater facility built in North America. A minimum bid amount of $2 million is requested for the 18.48 acres – Bids are due by May 9th.
