The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will begin a project on Friday, April 21, to improve the pavement on MD 42 (Friendsville Road) between Buffalo Run Road and the Pennsylvania state line in Garrett County. The project should be completed by the end of May, weather permitting.
The project includes drainage ditch clearing for improved highway drainage, as well as milling, paving and restriping. Motorists can expect single-lane closures with a flagging operation, 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
Keystone Lime Inc., of Springs, Pa., will use barrels and cones to safely guide drivers through the work zone. Drivers should slow down and stay alert through the work zone.
The State Highway Administration understands roadwork can be an inconvenience, but the project is necessary for crews to safely improve the ride quality and drainage on MD 42.
Motorists in need may dial #77 on their mobile device for roadside assistance. For a list of all major State Highway Administration projects, go to the project portal. Visit our homepage at roads.maryland.gov. For a look at real-time traffic conditions, go to md511.maryland.gov.
