Pedestrian struck by vehicle

Allegany County Emergency Services reports a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle at Park and Harrison Street.

    Anymore, there are a whole lot of folks in that “general” geographic area that think they can just walk out in front of traffic to cross a street without looking.
    I am not insinuating that was the case here, however it happens way too much in this area.
    I certainly hope this individual is OK.

At approximately 0750am the Cumberland Police Department along with the Cumberland Fire Department were dispatched to N. Mechanic Street at Baltimore Street for a crash involving a pedestrian.   Units on the scene arrived and found one person was struck by a vehicle in the intersection. The injured person was transported to Western Maryland Regional Medical Center for non life threatening injuries.   The investigation into the incident determined that the vehicle was turning from Baltimore Street onto N. Mechanic Street, striking the pedestrian in the crosswalk. The operator of the vehicle was cited for the crash and released.
