Police Arrest Cumberland Man After Break-in

On Thursday March 25th, 2021 Officers responded to the 800 block of Mt Royal Avenue for a reported breaking and entering. Upon officers arrival they spoke with a victim who advised them that they observed Nickoli Dundar Cakus fleeing the residence. Officers conducted their investigation and determined that Cakus had broken into the residence and stole items. Officers canvased the area and located Cakus in possession of the victims items and placed him under arrest. Through the investigation, officers learned that Cakus had an open and served Protective Order that provided the victim of the incident relief.

While officers conducted their investigation a second call was placed about a breaking and entering at a Clement Street address that had occurred previously in the night. Officers responded and spoke with the victim who advised that Cakus had broken into their residence and had stolen items. Officers then located evidence from the second breaking and entering in Cakus’ possession.

Cakus was taken before a District Court Commissioner where he was held without bond on both cases.

 

Arrest: Nickoli Dundar Cakus, age 23, Cumberland Maryland.

Charges: Two Counts of Burglary First Degree, Burglary Third Degree, Two Counts of Burglary Fourth Degree, Violation of Protective Order, Two Counts of Destruction of Property, Two Counts of Theft $100-$1,500, and Harassment.
