Police investigate breaking and entering

On Friday at 11:15hrs Officers with the Cumberland Police Dept responded to a residence located in the 300blk of S Cedar St in reference to a follow-up investigation on a Breaking and Entering complaint. Upon arrival Officers observed the residence to be vacant and appeared to be abandoned. Officers were able to locate 29 year old Jacob Kasecamp inside the residence. It was learned that Kasecamp did not have permission to be inside the residence. While checking the interior of the residence, Officers located several items did not belong to him. Further follow up investigation was conducted and it was learned that Kasecamp had removed an item from value from a residence in the First block of Boone St earlier in the day. As a result Kasecamp was placed under arrest and transported to the Cumberland Police Dept for processing. Kasecamp was charged with Burglary fourth, two counts of possession other than marijuana, possession of a prescription drug with intent to distribute, theft under $100, and CDS possession of paraphernalia. Kasecamp was taken for an initial appearance at District Court where he was held on $6,000.

On  Friday, officers from the Cumberland City Police Department responded to 12 ½ South Waverly Terrace, Apartment #9 for a breaking and entering complaint.  The victim in this matter informed the officers that on May 9  between the hours of 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM, an unknown suspect or suspects entered his apartment and removed his television and cell phone from the apartment.  Entry was gained through an open window.  This incident is currently under investigation by the Cumberland Police.  Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact the Cumberland City Police at 301-777-1600.
