ASSAULT

On Monday June 17, 2013, at 12:46 pm, Cumberland City Police officers responded to the area of Pennsylvania Avenue at Fourth Street for a Domestic Assault complaint.  Upon arrival, officers made contact with the victim who was seated in the passenger seat of a vehicle which was in the middle of the roadway.  The victim advised that she and her husband, Joseph Bates, got into a verbal argument in the vehicle which led to Bates striking his wife on the area of her forehead.  After the assault took place, Bates exited the vehicle and left the area on foot.  Officers observed visible injuries to the victim and checked the area for Bates who was located on Industrial Boulevard and placed under arrest.  Bates was transported to the Cumberland Police Department for processing.  He was taken to the Allegany County District Court Commissioners for a bond review and was released on his personal recognizance pending trial at the Allegany County District Court.  The victim did not require medical attention.

CHARGE:  Assault 2nd Degree.

 

DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY

On Tuesday June 18, 2013, at 12:01 am, Cumberland City Police officers responded to a residence on North Lee Street for a Destruction of Property complaint.  Investigation into this matter revealed that Brandon Simpson was a guest at a residence on North Lee Street.  Simpson became belligerent towards others and was asked to leave.  Once outside Simpson was allegedly threw an object through the window of the residence of where he was a guest at.  Officers located Simpson on Saratoga Street where he was observed acting in a disruptive manner.  Simpson was placed under arrest and was transported to the Cumberland City Police Department for processing.  Simpson is awaiting a bond hearing at the Allegany County District Court Commissioner’s office.

CHARGES: Destruction of Property, Disorderly Conduct, Disturbing the Peace.

 

BREAKING AND ENTERING

On Tuesday June 18, 2013, at 1:13 am, Cumberland City Police officers responded to the 100 block of Park Street for a Breaking and Entering complaint.  Upon arrival officers noticed the front door of the residence had been kicked in as the hinges were detached from the door.  Officers located Scott Milliron inside the residence and placed him under arrest.  Milliron was transported to the Cumberland City Police Department for processing.  He was later taken to the Allegany County Commissioner’s office for a bond review where he was released on his personal recognizance pending trial.

CHARGES:  Destruction of Property, Burglary 4th Degree.

HANDGUN VIOLATION

    On Thursday a Cumberland City Police officer on routine patrol observed a vehicle being driven with the operator unrestrained by a seat belt.  The officer stopped the vehicle in the area of the Constitution Park pool and contacted the operator and passenger in the vehicle.  A K-9 scan was conducted on the vehicle which resulted in a positive alert.  A search of the operator, passenger, and vehicle were conducted and during the search officers located a loaded .22 caliber revolver under the passenger’s seat as well as a large amount of ammunition.  Officers also located a ski mask, gloves, and a large bag inside the vehicle.  As a result of this investigation passenger Antonio Eugene Miller, 31, of Cumberland was placed under arrest and transported to Cumberland City Police Headquarters where he was charged with the following:

Handgun in vehicle – 1 Count

Regulated Firearm: Illegal Possession – 1 Count

Miller was taken to the Allegany County District Court for a bond hearing and was held on a $7,000.00 bond.  Miller was subsequently transported to the Allegany County Detention Center to await a bond review.

 

 

 

TRESPASSING ARREST

     On 05/30/2013 Cumberland City Police officers were dispatched to a Cumberland Housing Authority Property in reference to a subject trespassing on the property.  Officers were able to locate suspect Jordan Marshall Shook, 27, of Cumberland inside an apartment after being notified not to be on the property by Housing Authority officials.  As a result, Shook was placed under arrest and transported to Cumberland City Police Headquarters and charged with the following:

Trespass: Private Property – 1 Count

Shook was processed and released pending trial at the Allegany County District Court.
