On Sunday, August 2nd, 2020 the Cumberland Police Department arrested Jais Allen Hott for disorderly intoxication and disorderly conduct. Officers contacted Hott at a Downtown Motel after receiving a compliant. He was issued criminal citations and told not to return and released. Later on, another complaint was received that Hott had returned to the motel and was causing more problems. Officers responded, again making contact with Hott and arrested him. He was charged with failure to obey a lawful order, trespassing, and disorderly conduct. This time he was taken before the District Court Commissioner and was released on his own personal recognizance pending trial.

On January 16, 2020, at 6:35 am, Cumberland Police were dispatched to the 200 block of Columbia Street for some type of disturbance. When officers arrived they located a female identified as Amber Whetsell, age 25 of Cumberland. Officers learned from Whetsell that some type of physical altercation had occurred at a residence on Columbia Street. While officers were speaking with Whetsell, they were advised by Dispatch that the other party involved in the altercation had requested police assistance at another location. Officers responded to that location to speak with the other party and further investigate the incident. Officers learned that an argument occurred between Whetsell and the victim. The argument turned into a physical altercation where Whetsell assaulted the victim with a knife. No life threatening injuries were sustained during the assault. Consequently, Whetsell was arrested and charged with 1st degree assault and 2nd degree assault. Whetsell was later provided her Initial Appearance and released on her own recognizance.
