On February 2, 2021, the Cumberland City Police served an Arrest Warrant Christopher Johnston, age 35 of Cumberland, Maryland.  The Warrant stemmed from a January 18, 2021 incident where Cumberland Police responded to the thousand block of Braddock Road for a burglary complaint.  Officers further learned that the suspect/suspects that broke into thro property stole nearly $1800 worth of video games, jewelry and tools. On January 22, 2021, officers investigating the burglary found that similar items had been pawned at a local pawn shop.  Following up on this lead, officers were able to recover some of the stolen property, and identified Christopher Johnston as the suspect.  Subsequently, officers applied for charges on Johnston in District Court, and a Warrant was issued charging Johnston with 1st degree burglary, 4th degree burglary, and theft $1,500 to under $25, 000.  Johnston was served with the Warrant and transported to District Court for his Initial Appearance. Following his hearing, he was released pending trial on $10,000 unsecured bond.
