The 2025 Hurricane Season officially began Sunday, June 1st and goes through November. The Maryland Department of Emergency Management is urging Marylanders to have ways of communication and evacuation planned. Families should have a disaster kit prepared with nonperishable foods, water, important papers, medications, items for children, pets and cash because the season is looking intense, according to Michael Brennan, director of the National Hurricane Center…
“We have a 60% chance of seeing above normal levels of activity across the basin. We’re expecting between 13 and 19 named storms, systems becoming at least tropical storms. Six of 10 of those going on to become hurricanes. Three to 5 of those going on to become major hurricanes—category 3, 4, or 5. So we are expecting a busy season.”
