Prospect Square to be impacted for Repairs

July 1st, 2022 by WCBC Radio

The City of Cumberland Engineering Department, on behalf of Ameri-Seal LLC, would like to notify the public that beginning on Tuesday, July 5, at approximately 7:00 am, portions of Prospect Square will be closed around the Circuit Court Building to allow for the road to be paved. Construction is expected to last through Friday, July 9 depending on the weather. The road will remain closed until construction is complete.

The closure is necessary to allow the roadway to be reconstructed, as a result of the water main break on June 10.

Parking on Prospect Square, adjacent to the Circuit Court Building, will be restricted to facilitate two-way traffic on the opened portions of the road to permit employees and building owners to access adjacent parking lots for which they have authorization to utilize. Visitors are urged to park on Washington Street to avoid the construction site.

Residents are advised to avoid the area as much as possible during this time to allow for the work to be completed safely and successfully. Pedestrian walking paths will be maintained throughout construction.

Thank you for your cooperation during this time. Please use caution in the area and follow all traffic control devices that will be in place. If there are any questions, please contact the City of Cumberland Engineering Department, 301-759-6601.
