March 10th, 2024 by WCBC Radio

Frostburg State Women's Tennis team moved back into a winning record in their season, defeating Bloomsburg 5-2 on the road Saturday evening.

FSU began the meet with a lead, taking the doubles point after the first three matches of the day. Juniors Julia Ramos and Lorena Pintar cruised to a 6-3 win at the top pairing, while sophomore Alyssa Kush and freshman Lauren Ceballos faced a much tougher time at No. 2, but still were able to pull away 7-6 winners to earn the doubles point.

Ramos (6-1, 6-4) and Pintar (6-3, 6-0) both won in straight sets during singles play, as did freshman Patricia Castejon (6-0, 6-0). In a back-and-forth effort, Kush was able to earn herself a victory as well, battling her way to a 6-4, 5-7, 6-4 win at the top singles spot. Ceballos came up just shy in attempting a comeback win at No. 3 singles, falling 6-4, 3-6, 7-6, with BU also winning through a retirement at the four spot for the 5-2 final.

With the victory, Frostburg improves to 5-4 on the year, while Bloomsburg drops to 5-5. FSU returns to the court on Thursday, March 29, where they will host Bowie State at 4 p.m. Information and updates will be posted to frostburgsports.com.
