The potential for an abortion clinic to open in Allegany County has some residents upset. When West Virginia and many other states took action last year to ban abortions- there was concern expressed that Maryland – where the procedure is legal- would become an abortion destination. Those concerns are now being validated to some extent- even on the local front- with a Charleston West Virginia clinic purchasing a location along McMullen Highway.
