Route 220 in the area of the Circle K on McMullen Highway was closed briefly this afternoon as the result of a vehicle accident. The scene was cleared shortly after 4pm. No injuries reported.

On 08/18/2011 Maryland State Police responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision on Rt 220 in the area of Iris Ave. Connie M Rubin, Warfordsburg, operating a Lincoln passenger car, was stopped in the north bound lane of Rt 220 preparing to make a left turn onto Iris Ave. Mr. Harold D Hawn, Cumberland, operating a Chevy Silverado, failed to reduce speed and struck the rear of Ms Rubins vehicle.
Connie Rubin and a passenger in her vehicle, Mr. Bruce Starr were both transported to the WMRMC for treatment for what appeared to be minor injuries. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
Rt 220 was closed for approximately 30 min. Collision was investigated by Senior Trooper J. C. King.
