The Allegany County Commissioners gave approval at their latest meeting to start the process for the Sheriff’s department to purchase a Lenco Bearcat armored vehicle. Officers have had to borrow other department’s vehicles when emergency situations arise. Commissioner Bill Atkinson says the Bearcat is needed to protect both citizens and officers…
Ordering the vehicle now puts the county in line to receive it in about a year, allowing more time to search for funding in addition to what’s already in place…
