Sheriff’s Office Details Westernport Operation

Due to recent complaints and problems in the Area of Westernport, Maryland, the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office has made it a priority to saturate this region with extra patrols. During this recent initiative, numerous arrests have been made in the Westernport area; including drug violations, warrant services, traffic violations, and other offenses.

On 02/16/2022, at approximately 1200 hours, Deputies with the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office, acting on a tip from members of the community, responded to a residence on Vine Street in Westernport Maryland in an attempt to locate Gregory Allen Boggs Jr., who was wanted on two active warrants for his arrest through Allegany County.
Upon their arrival at the residence, Boggs fled on foot from Deputies. Following a brief foot pursuit, Boggs was apprehended in a nearby storage shed and taken into custody.
Boggs remained remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center following his initial appearance.

Deputies were also assisted on scene by the Mineral County Sheriff’s Office.
On 02/20/2022, Deputies on patrol in the area Westernport, Maryland observed a 2006 Dodge Durango displaying Expired West Virginia registration traveling W/B on Rt. 135. The vehicle made a right run onto Rt. 36 and then left turn onto Front Street. As the Deputy attempted to affect a traffic stop the vehicle proceeded to a location on Vine Street in Westernport, Maryland. The vehicle was stopped and the driver was contacted.

Upon making contact with the driver who advised his name was Lucas Earl Shoemaker, he was advised of the reason for the stop. While attempting to verify the driver’s information through dispatch, Shoemaker opened the driver’s side door and fled on foot. Shoemaker was apprehended after a brief foot pursuit to a wooded area. He stated that he ran because he thought he had a warrant. There were no active warrants at this time. Shoemaker was placed under arrest and deputies located capsules of suspected fentanyl in his possession. Shoemaker was charged with traffic violations, possession of fentanyl, and fleeing on foot. Shoemaker was transported to the Allegany County Detention to await his initial appearance hearing.

On 02/23/2022, Deputies with the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office, acting on a tip from members of the community, responded to a residence on Maryland Avenue in Westernport Maryland in an attempt to locate Joshua Keith Fasching, who was wanted on four active warrants for his arrest through Allegany County.

Upon their arrival at the residence, deputies took Fasching into custody after locating him hiding in a second-floor porch area. Fasching was transported to the Allegany County Detention Center to await an initial appearance hearing.

On 02/23/2022, Deputies with the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office, acting on a tip from members of the community, responded to a residence on Rock Street in Westernport Maryland in an attempt to locate Cori Shayn Hudson, who was wanted an active warrant for his arrest through Mineral County, WV.

Upon their arrival at the residence, deputies observed Cori Hudson through a window. After observing this male, he ran back into the rear of the residence. A female identified as Charity Paige Hudson came to the door. Upon speaking to Ms. Hudson she advised that her brother Cori was not inside of the residence. Deputies advised that he was observed inside and asked for her to get him from the residence. She refused and continued to deny that he was inside. Deputies made contact with the homeowner who came and allowed deputies to go into the residence. Deputies located Cori Hudson hiding in a bedroom closet. Cori Hudson was placed under arrest for the active warrant and Charity Hudson was placed under arrest for obstruction and hindering. Both subjects were transported to the Allegany County Detention Center to await an initial appearance hearing. Upon taking Cori Hudson into the Allegany County Detention Center, a search was conducted and deputies located contraband. Deputies found several items of CDS paraphernalia, suspected methamphetamine, suspected fentanyl, and a sum of cash. Hudson was served with additional charges for CDS Possession in place of confinement.

The Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the concerned citizens who helped with these operations. Deputies will continue to be proactive in the area. Deputies also made numerous traffic stops, field contacts, and received additional leads in the area.
