March 20 is "crossover day' in Annapolis, the deadline for lawmakers in the General Assembly to approve and send bills to the opposite chamber for more debate.
If a bill doesn't pass in a chamber by today, it has a lesser chance of becoming law.
One measure that has yet to make any movement is a bill that would increase the maximum sentence for those 21 and older caught with an illegal handgun from 3 to 5 years in prison.
That's a bill City State's Attorney Ivan Bates supports, but since it was proposed, it hasn't moved out of the committee level.
