The LaVale Barrack of Maryland State Police activated the Snow Emergency Plan in Allegany County at 10 AM.

The Hagerstown Barrack put the plan into effect in Washington County at 10:30 AM.

The Snow Emergency Plans for Garrett, Frederick and Carroll Counties had all be put into effect Sunday morning.

When the Plan is in effect, all vehicles traveling on designated state Snow Emergency Routes must be equipped with chains, snow tires, or all season radial tires. Vehicles parked on Snow Emergency Routes are subject to being impounded.

Please do not call the State Police or any other police agency for road or weather conditions. These types of calls will tie up police phone lines and prevent true emergency calls from getting through, and could jeopardize someone’s life.

Instead call 1-800-327-3125, monitor your local media outlets, or go to www.marylandroads.com for current conditions. Thank you.
