Some County Officials Could Get Pay Hike within Two Years

Some elected Allegany County officials could receive a pay raise starting in 2023, if the county commissioners approve the recommendations of an appointed salary review commission.  Every four years the county commissioners appoint a six-member board comprised of individuals from a variety of county organizations to study the salary of elected county officials. The volunteer panel, Thursday, announced  recommendations for the 2023-2026  term. The most significant increase will come to the Allegany County Commissioners with the recommendation being for a 2% annual increase for four years. That would bring the commissioners compensation to 37,492 by 2026- with the commissioners president receiving slighty more- jumping to $38,712.  The only other increase proposed is a one-time two percent hike for members of the Allegany County Liquor Board. No increases were recommended for the Board of Education; Sheriff; Judges of the Orphans Court; Sheriff  or the Board of Elections.
