Street projects will impact traffic this week

February 18th, 2023 by WCBC Radio

In addition to construction beginning on the Baltimore Street Bridge Monday, the city has announced several other projects that will cause some traffic issues:

The City of Cumberland Engineering Department, on behalf of Excavating Associates, Inc., would like to notify the public that on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 beginning at 7:00 am, East 4th Street will be closed from South Street to Homer Street in order to perform construction on the intersection. The road will remain closed until February 24th, 2023 with work being performed from 7AM to 5PM.

The closure will allow Excavating Associates to complete the intersection repair for this project in the area. Pedestrians are asked to avoid the area as much as possible during this time to allow for the work to be completed safely and successfully.

And the City of Cumberland Engineering Department would like to notify the public on the behalf of Columbia Gas of Maryland that on February 20th, 2023 there will be construction performed on North Centre Street, between Frederick Street Extended and Bedford Street Extended.

Between the hours of 7AM and 5PM, this block of Centre Street will be closed to all traffic. All vehicles will be detoured onto Frederick Street Extended towards Queen City Drive. Vehicles may then re-access Centre Street via Bedford Street Extended or they may continue to the intersection of Queen City Drive and North Centre Street.

Thank you for your cooperation during this time. Please use caution in the area and follow all traffic control devices that will be in place. If there are any questions, please contact the City of Cumberland Engineering Department, 301-759-6600.
