Theft, Assault, Resisting, Disorderly Conduct and CDS Arrest

On Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at approximately 9:23 PM, officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to a business in the 400 block of Virginia Avenue for a shoplifting complaint.  Police contacted the staff who reported that Abree Braithwaite stole merchandise from the store.  When officers attempted to place Braithwaite in hand restraints, she resisted arrest and grabbed at the officer’s wrist.   During a search of Braithwaite and her property incident to arrest, officers located suspected fentanyl and drug paraphernalia in her possession.  Braithwaite was later seen by a District Court Commissioner and posted a $1,500 unsecured personal bond.
