Tractor trailer accident

Allegany County 911 reports that a tractor-trailer narrowly missed hitting the Mullaney Building at 13700 McMullen Highway. No one was injured in the 9:36 a.m. incident, but a fuel tank was leaking, which prompted the response of the Allegany County Hazardous Incident Response Team. Benjamin Pyles, 30, of Lost City, W.Va., was driving the 1996 Freightliner south when the truck drifted off the roadway and struck a tree, according to Maryland State Police. Pyles refused medical treatment and received a citation for negligent driving.

On 10/23/2012 at approximately 17:48 hours Deputies of the Allegany County Sheriff's Office responded to Rt. 36 in the area of Big Lane Avenue in Midland for a reported tractor and trailer rollover with injuries.

Deputies arrived on scene and observed a tractor and trailer rolled onto the driver’s side on the S/B shoulder facing north. The driver, 41 year old Alexander Morgan Scott of Maytown, PA. and his son, 19 year old Reid Stephen Scott of Wrightsville, Pa., had self extricated and were not injured. The truck was hauling 47,000 lbs of paper from New Page Paper Company.  For reasons unknown the driver stated that the truck began to sway and rolled onto its' side.  Scott was not charged in the incident.

Rt. 36 was closed until 22:10 hours, while the product was off loaded with the assistance of the volunteer fire crews, and the vehicle was removed by South Side Salvage.
