Representative David Trone has been declared the winner in Maryland's Sixth District, holding off a challenge from Delegate Neil Parrott. The district, for the first time in years, emerged as the state's most competitive congressional race, leading Trone to invest millions of his personal fortune in defending his seat. Parrott has conceded the election indicating that he had called Congressman Trone and congratulated him on his victory. In a statement released Friday afternoon, Parrott said, “I am incredibly grateful for everyone who worked with my family and me on the campaign trail. We have developed many close friendships that we value greatly.”
