July 20th, 2022 by WCBC Radio

Today, Congressman David Trone (MD-06) voted to pass H.R. 8294, a package of six government funding bills, which focuses on helping families and communities across America. The transformative investments in the bill will lower the cost of living, create good-paying American jobs, lift up working families, and support small businesses.

On June 30th, Congressman Trone announced that this slate of funding through the Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development and Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies Subcommittees was approved by the full Appropriations Committee. Now, having passed the full U.S. House today, the U.S. House and Senate will develop a joint bill in the coming months to fund the federal government for the upcoming fiscal year.

Rep. Trone secured funding for eight projects that will directly benefit communities in Maryland’s Sixth District. These include:

  • $4,800,000 for the repair of the Fayette Street Bridge on behalf of the City of Cumberland
  • $4,000,000 for the East Street Trail Liberty Road Bridge Crossing for the City of Frederick
  • $4,000,000 for the Fisher Avenue Streetscape Project for the Town of Poolesville
