Two Bowie Men Arrested on Drug Charges in Traffic Stop

On Sunday, January 30th, 2022, Sheriff’s Deputies with the Allegany County Sheriff's Office were in the area of Interstate 68, Cumberland Maryland, when a vehicle was observed committing a series of traffic related offenses.

A traffic stop was conducted, and after approaching the vehicle, deputies detected the strong odor of marijuana emanating from inside. A probable cause search of the vehicle recovered a large amount of suspected marijuana as well as other items to indicate the intent to illegally distribute the controlled dangerous substance. The amount of suspected marijuana seized weighs a total of 463 grams.

Two occupants were identified and arrested as a result and are as follows:

Joshua W Blackwood (19 years old) and Thomas E. J. Reed (18 years old) both of Bowie Maryland.

Blackwood and Reed were each charged with the following:

·       Possession of Marijuana greater than 10 grams

·       Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana

·       Related traffic offenses.

Blackwood and Reed were transported to the Allegany County Detention Center to await an initial appearance before a District Court Commissioner.
