UPMC Officials Urge COVID Patients to Consider Antibody Treatment

UPMC doctors said Wednesday that people who test positive for COVID-19 should ask their health care providers about receiving monoclonal antibody treatment as soon as they are diagnosed.  Dr. Meredith Chuck, with the federal department of Health and Human Services, joined UPMC doctors for a virtual briefing in which the group made a renewed push for people to ask for and receive the treatment, which provides an infusion of antibodies to people fighting covid. Chuk said that the treatment has shown to decrease the risk of hospitalization and death. In clinical trials, Chuck said for every 21 people who receive the treatment, one will be hospitalized and for every 52 people, one will die of the disease…
