US Democratic Senator Chris Van Hollen says it is time to get rid of the national debt limit set by Congress. Van Hollen along with Brian Shatz of Hawaii have introduced a bill to abolish the limit. Senator Van Hollen explained what can happen if the United States doesn’t pay its bills on time.
Last fall, President Biden rejected a push from congressional Democrats to get rid of the statutory debt ceiling, calling the idea "irresponsible."
