The United States Postal Service is gearing up for the holidays with a number of investments in its services. This year USPS will have no holiday demand surcharges this year in an attempt to position itself as the most affordable delivery provider. The Postal Service is also hiring 10,000 seasonal employees along with increasing daily processing capacity to 70 million pieces of mail and moving 95% of its volume via an improved ground transportation system. The investments are all part of the postal service’s “Delivering for America” strategic plan.
