On Sunday, January 27th, 2024 the Cumberland Police Department served an arrest warrant on Jacob Lee Haines. The warrant was issued by District Court for an incident that occurred on January 26th, when officers responded to a Memorial Avenue residence for the report of an assault. When officers arrived, they spoke with a female victim that alleged that Haines had injured her during an altercation. Officers did observed injuries consistent with her statement. Attempts to locate Haines at that time were unsuccessful and an application for charges was submitted with the District Court Commissioner Office. Haines was charged with first and second degree assault and taken to the Allegany County Detention Center to await a bond review. He was later held without bail.

Warrant Served
On Sunday, January 27th, 2024 the Cumberland Police Department served a District Court bench warrant on Eric Jason Burley. The warrant was issued when Burley failed to appear for trial on January, 25th on CDS charges. He was taken to the Allegany County Detention Center to await a bond review and later released on his own personal recognizance pending trail.

Criminal Summons Served
On Sunday, January 27th, 2024 the Cumberland Police Department served a criminal summons on John Marvin Nicholas. The summons was issued by District Court for an incident that occurred at an E. Oldtown Road establishment on January, 25th. On that date, officers responded for the report of an employee that had been assaulted. When officers arrived, management stated that a male walked into the store and confronted an employee in the freezer area and assaulted him. The male was identified by officers as Nicholas and charges were filed with the District Court Commissioner’s Office. Nicholas was charged with second degree assault. He signed and received copies of the charging document and was released pending trial at District Court.
