We Are Fort Hill Committee Announces 2022 HOF Inductees

The We Are Fort Hill Committee recently announced three Fort Hill High School alumnus as the 2022 Hall of Fame inductees. The newest members of the HOF include Mr. William Edward Peck, Sr., Class of 1956; Commander Jared Thomas Jacobs, Class of 1993; and Mr. Larry DeMar Boggs, Class of 1969.

              William Peck graduated from Fort Hill in 1956 as one of three of the first integrated students to do so. Peck was a member of the Washington Metropolitan Police Department’s Intelligence Division. He also graduated from the FBI Academy in Quantico, VA, in 1980 and the Florida Law Enforcement Academy in 1982. Mr. Peck was the keynote speaker at the Allegany County Branch of the NAACP’s Freedom Fund dinner and was a commanding officer in the Sands Platoons Young Mountain Side Marines.

              Jared Jacobs is a 1993 Fort Hill graduate and entered into the U.S. Navy thereafter at the Naval Academy Preparatory School. He then spent four years at the U.S. Naval Academy and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in oceanography and commissioned as an Ensign in 1998. Jared was designated a Naval Aviator receiving his Wings in 2000, and he is also a graduate of Air Command and Staff College where he received his Master’s degree in military operational art and science. Over the course of his career, Jacobs has received 33 service member awards and has been assigned to the following: 8th FTS Vance Air Force Base in Enid, OK; VT 31 in NAS Corpus Christi, TX; Patrol Squadron 30 in Jacksonville, FL; Patrol Squadron 47 in MCAS Kaneohe Bay, HI; Fleet Logistics Support Squadron 52 in Willow Grove, PA; Air Command and Staff College, Maxwell AFB in Montgomery, AL; Command Task Force 63 EUCOM/AFRICOM in Naples, Italy; Navy Operational Support Center in Charlotte, NC; and Commander Fleet Logistics Support Wing in Fort Worth, TX. Commander Jacobs has flown more than 4,500 flight hours in Naval aircraft.

              Larry Boggs graduated from Fort Hill in 1969 and earned a full scholarship to the University of Maryland to play golf. He also received his MBA from Frostburg State University. After graduation, Boggs went to work for Butcher and Singer, Inc., where he would eventually open a branch in Cumberland and become the First Vice President/Manager. Now with over 45 years of financial services experiences, Larry is currently a Managing Director Investment Officer, a title reserved for the financial advisors who achieve a firm’s highest standards of ethics, production, and client service. Throughout his career with The Boggs Wealth Management Group of Wells Fargo Advisors, he has received numerous prestigious recognitions and awards. His team is considered by Barron’s magazine to be one of the top in the country. Boggs serves on several foundation boards and has even received the Chamber of Commerce’s Award for Community Service.

              The committee will honor the trio at a recognition luncheon scheduled for September 24, 2022, at noon in the school’s courtyard. Tickets to the event are available in the school’s main office. Nominations for next year’s Hall of Fame are accepted until January 31st. Nominees must have graduated from Fort Hill fifteen or more years ago and should be based on significant achievements in lifetime endeavors. Nomination forms are available at www.forthillhs.com
