Western Maryland Street Rod Roundup this weekend

August 31st, 2019 by WCBC Radio

Hundreds of street rod enthusiasts are expected to find their way down winding Maryland roads to the Allegany County Fairgrounds for the 47th annual Western Maryland Street Rod Roundup this weekend. The action picks up Saturday and running through Sunday, the event features trucks and cars built in or before 1975 — a raise in the make year from previous years. Last year’s limit was 1972.  The roundup, which is expected to draw 600 to 700 people throughout the weekend, operates as a fundraiser for the club. Proceeds will mostly be given to The Children’s League, but throughout the year the organization donates to Haley House Foundation, Relay for Life, gives out two scholarships to Allegany College of Maryland and helps other groups that serve those in need. Danny Moreland, the group’s treasurer, said the event will likely raise $6,000 to $8,000.
