The damage to the Westernport Library from the flooding in May goes deeper than just cosmetics, according to the Allegany County Library System’s Interim Director, Lisa McKenney.  An undermining has occurred to the front of the building that is not covered by flood insurance policy, but the County included the newfound damage in the most recent FEMA request.  Pop-Up Libraries continue to be provided, but as winter approaches, McKenney says they willl need something warmer…

“We’re taking advantage of the nice weather up through the month of October, but we’re going to be getting into that colder weather where it will be more difficult for us to offer that kind of service to the community.  So, we are looking at setting up a temporary place inside where we might be able to offer some library services.”
