A major winter storm is expected to blanket the region late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning with a chance for 4 to 8 inches of accumuation. Snow is expected to begin late in the afternoon Tuesday and continue through Wednesday.

On the night before the official first day of winter, a major snow is expected to hit the western Maryland region. According to most forecasts, several inches of snow, gusting winds and wind chill readings in the single-digit range are all part of the expected conditions. The storm is anticipated moving in late Thrusday night, with 6 to 12 inches of snow forecast in far Western Maryland and 3 to 6 inches in the lower elevations of the region.
