WMHS Foundation Golf Classic Raises Nearly $180,000

The 25th anniversary edition of the Western Maryland Health System Foundation Golf Classic was held in mid-September at the Cumberland Country Club, raising nearly $180,000 to support patients and healthcare staff in need of special assistance.The event included a dinner, auction and two-flight golf tournament.

In the morning flight, winners in the gross division:  Moran Coal with a score of 60, Fundamental with a score of 61, and UPMC Rehabilitation with a score of 62. In the net division, Cintas won with a score of 54, followed by Chemstar at 56 in a card-off with Western Maryland Dentistry. 

Individual winners for the morning’s closest to the pin:  Dale Jones, Mike Dumas (two holes), Mark Callahan, John Sensabaugh and Ryan Sawyers. Straightest drive was made by Jared Zampelli; longest drive by Jason Lepley, and the putting contest saw two individuals sink the putt – Doug Martz and Paul Hager. 

In the evening flight, winners in the gross division: First place, Western Maryland Distributingin a card off with second place Chessie Federal Credit Union. Boggs Wealth Management tookthird place. In the net division, First United won in a card-off, followed by Allegany Radio and Aerial Communications. 

Afternoon individual winners for closest to the pin: Jeff McKenzie, Cory McCarty, Nik Gates, Donnie Strain, Mike Fetchero and Mark Jewell. Straightest drive went to Joe Carter; longest drive to Murray Gornall, and the putting contest was won by Bryan Leonard, who made the putt.
