On March 10th, 2022, The Cumberland City Police responded to a residence in the 200 Block of Seymour St for the report of an assault involving a knife. Upon arrival, Officers located a male victim suffering from a non-life-threatening laceration to the chest. The Cumberland Fire Department was called upon to provide medical attention to the victim. Through officer’s investigation, it was learned that a female suspect had attacked the victim inside the home after an alleged theft of food items. As a result, 47 year old Rachel Natalie Brotemarkle was placed under arrest and transported to Police Headquarters for processing. She was taken before the District Court Commissioner for her Initial Appearance. Brotemarkle was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center where she was held without bond.
