This week, the final buildings on Baltimore Street were tied into the new 18" waterline. The sub-contractor, Rommel Construction, also continued to install the fiber optic conduit up the street and into buildings. The "Portland Loo" (outdoor restroom facility) was also placed onto its permanent resting spot in the Mechanic Street parklet.
Next week, underdrains for the street tree root system will be installed, as well as the few remaining storm sewer structures yet to be completed on Baltimore Street. Upon completion of these items, Triton will begin installing the "Silva cells" that are necessary for tree growth. During the Silva cell installation, there will again be local sidewalk closures. As always, please be cognizant of the "Sidewalk Closed" signs that will be updated daily to inform of closures.
