The Maryland State Board of Education has appointed an interim Superintendent while a committee searches for a permanent replacement for Mohammed Choudhury who stepped down this past week. Dr. Carey Wright will fill the vacated spot. Wright is a native of Maryland and was most recently the Mississippi State Superintendent for nine years until her retirement in 2022. She has also held positions in three Maryland county schools and the District of Columbia.
