The West Virginia legislature finished up the special session called by Governor Jim Justice on Tuesday, passing 35 of 44 bills introduced. Justice had called the session in order to get legislation passed for items including pay for correctional officers, child support, state aid to schools, and fixing the glitch in the car tax rebate program. The session gave firefighters a one-time payment of $12 million to support fire response but EMS organizations received no further funding beyond a $10 million salary enhancement fund that came from the Governor last year.
