Resident Speaks on Data Center Abandonment

Data centers in the United States may be reaching a tipping point and area resident Nina Forsythe addressed the Allegany County Commissioners on that issue at last week’s public meeting. She said that many companies that had embraced artificial intelligence can no longer afford it and are switching to open-source Chinese AI companies. She cautioned about a possible future state if a data center comes locally…

“The A.I. industry in the U.S. is coming for a reckoning and if we build data centers here, we will most likely be stuck with stranded assets and what we don’t need here is a big, hulking, empty building.”
