Westernport Elementary Grand Reopening

After a year of damage assessment and rebuilding, the time has come for a celebration in Westernport.  The public is invited to attend the grand reopening of Westernport Elementary School Saturday beginning at 10am. Remarks from members of the school system, school board, and delegation members are expected, including Congresswoman April McClain Delaney making a gift presentation…

“There is something really special that’s going to be happening when the congresswoman visits us. She’s going to be donating 80 books to our school library. There’s a Library of Congress surplus book program so that’s where she’s getting the books from so this is a huge deal for us. We’re very excited.”

There will also be recognition of those who provided emergency assistance when flooding hit the school last May…

“We also want to recognize the heroic efforts of our rescue and emergency services personnel, non-profit and aid workers, and the many, many individuals who came together in a time of need last year.”
