On September 9, 2012 at approximately 1:12pm the Cumberland Police Department responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident at the corner of Henderson Avenue and Glenn Street. Information from eye witnesses and the investigation revealed that an elderly male was operating a Ford truck when for unknown reasons the truck left the roadway where it jumped the curve striking a building and knocking over several street signs. The operator was extricated from the vehicle by the Cumberland Fire Department and was transported by ambulance to the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center where he later died. At this time the name is being withheld pending notification of the family.
The Allegany County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Team assisted with the accident.
