A 16-year-old Hyndman boy, Jonah Kindya, who was walking in the middle of the railroad tracks Sunday night was killed when a westbound Amtrak passenger train struck him, according to Pennsylvania State Police at Bedford.
Kindya was a junior at the Hope for Hyndman Charter School.
The accident occurred shortly after 8pm about two-tenths of a mile southeast of Schellsburg Street in Hyndman.
State police were assisted by the Hyndman Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad, Bedford County Coroner’s Office, and Amtrak and CSX Police.
The incident remains under investigation.
