Kelly Fears Political Agenda Behind New Graduation Requirement

This past summer, Maryland made history by becoming the first state in the nation to impose a new requirement to graduate from high school — something called environmental literacy. However, while some may view it as a trend setting curriculum addition, not everyone is as enthusiastic.  The state education board leaves all content up to local school boards and a state official said "local systems will implement the requirement as they see fit."   Although not opposed to boosting achievement, Delegate Kevin Kelly fears a broader, more political agenda which doesn’t play well in western Maryland may have been put in place…
