Maryland Unemployment Rates On the Rise

July 28th, 2013 by WCBC Radio

The Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation announced an increase to Washington County's unemployment rate for June, which mirrors the state's rising unemployment rate. Officials say the 8.5 percent unemployment rate is a 0.4 percent increase from the previous month. The increase follows Maryland's unemployment rate, which increased 0.6 percent to 7.5 percent- still lower than the national average of 7.6 percent.

7.5% IS lower than 7.6%! Some math whiz figured that out. With all of the Federal, state, and local employees in Maryland, unemployment should be about 4%. Thanks O’Malley!!
