Myers Claims Partisanship Won’t Affect Canal Place Appointment

Delegate Leroy Myers tells WCBC News that despite speculation to the contrary, he has been given no reason to believe the proposed appointment of Allegany County Commissioner Mike McKay to the Canal Place Preservation and Development Authority Board will be rejected by the governor. Among others, McKay’s fellow commissioner Bill Valentine suggested that the vastly different political philosophies of Governor Martin O’Malley and Commissioner McKay might lead to the appointment being nixed. Myers however tells WCBC News that he talked to representatives from the Governor’s staff and was offered assurances that partisan politics won’t be a factor in the process…
