Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley is perceived by many to be anti hydraulic fracturing to drill for natural gas in Marcellus shale deposits- however the governor says that isn’t the case. While he did appoint a committee to study the environmental impacts of fracking that will delay any wells being drilled for several years- O’Malley says that is a safety precaution and reflects only his desire to protect ground water from being contaminated. He told a group of area residents recently that if fracking is proven to be a safe process- he would welcome it as it could have a tremendous economic impact for western Maryland…
